Authorities in Frederick, Maryland, reported that the incident occurred early Tuesday morning. A 1995 Honda Accord, in which Hottle was a passenger, veered off the road and collided with a culvert. Preliminary investigations suggest that excessive speed may have played a role in the crash.
Hottle was transported to a nearby trauma center; however, she succumbed to her injuries. The driver, who is 19 years old, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, while another passenger in the vehicle chose not to receive medical treatment.
