The report suggests that UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan communicated with Netanyahu approximately ten days before the attack, armed with intelligence indicating that Hamas was orchestrating a significant operation. However, Netanyahu’s office has firmly denied these allegations, asserting that the conversation never transpired and labeling the report as untrue.
The accusations have fueled criticism directed at Netanyahu regarding the perceived security lapse during the October 7 assault. Opposition figures have been vocal, with Gadi Eisenkot, a prominent opposition leader, condemning Netanyahu for allegedly disregarding repeated warnings. Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett added to the chorus of criticism, asserting that Netanyahu holds direct responsibility for the oversight and should vacate his position.
The report implicates that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar had previously characterized the planned operation as an “earthquake.” It is claimed that the warning was initially conveyed by a former Palestinian official and an Emirati adviser before reaching the UAE’s leadership.
