Netanyahu Stipulates Gaza Investments on Complete Hamas Disarmament

by admin477351

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made it clear that Israeli forces will not withdraw from Gaza until Hamas is entirely disarmed, dismissing a proposal supported by the United States that connects military withdrawal to a more comprehensive peace agreement. Israeli authorities highlight intelligence reports indicating that Hamas continues to recruit fighters, strengthen its military capabilities, and acquire more weapons. Israel argues that pulling out troops prematurely would enable Hamas to re-establish control over Gaza and once again threaten Israeli security.

The US-brokered ceasefire proposal outlines several key steps: the disarmament of Hamas, the dismantling of its tunnel network, a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces, the formation of a Palestinian technocratic government, the deployment of an international security force, and efforts to rebuild Gaza. Despite these plans, Netanyahu’s stance reflects Israel’s concern over potential security risks should Hamas regain its military strength.

Amid ongoing conflict, recent Israeli airstrikes have reportedly resulted in the deaths of at least 17 individuals, among them children. In a separate incident, Palestinians conducted a mass funeral after rescue operations retrieved over 100 bodies from beneath the debris of a significant Israeli airstrike in Gaza City’s Sabra neighborhood, which occurred in November 2023. Recovery efforts are still underway, as many victims are believed to remain trapped under the rubble.

The current conflict traces back to an attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023, aimed at southern Israel. This assault resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,200 people and the abduction of 251 hostages, subsequently sparking the ongoing hostilities in Gaza. The situation remains tense as both sides continue to grapple with the complexities of achieving a lasting resolution.
