On October 19, in the city of Samarkand, Kazakhstan and the United States reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership, focusing on expanding trade, investment, and cooperation in key sectors such as energy, critical minerals, digitalization, and transport. The discussions took place between Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, highlighting the importance of bilateral economic ties and investment opportunities.

The meeting was part of the C5+1 Ministerial Meeting, which brought together the United States and Central Asian nations to address regional economic development, trade, investment, and connectivity. Both sides emphasized the need to bolster transport and logistics networks, diversify supply chains, and pursue joint initiatives in energy and digital innovation.

During the discussions, Minister Tileuberdi underscored the potential for US investment and the deployment of advanced technologies in Kazakhstan, particularly in the realms of energy, critical minerals, and transport infrastructure. These opportunities align with the strategic partnership goals between the two nations, building on agreements from a previous meeting in November 2025 between Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and then-US President Donald Trump.

The C5+1 talks also served as a platform for participants to stress the importance of long-term cooperation and the implementation of agreed initiatives, culminating in a joint statement that reaffirmed their shared commitment.
