The Iranian government has firmly denied any participation in the ongoing conflict within Yemen, asserting that the Houthi forces operate autonomously and make decisions independently. Esmaeil Baghaei, the spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, emphasized that Tehran does not engage in Yemeni internal affairs, dismissing any allegations that Iran is connected to recent events involving Saudi Arabia and Yemen. Baghaei pointed out that the conflict has origins deeply rooted within Yemen itself.
In a related development, a meeting that was to take place in Oman, involving Iran and Gulf countries, has been postponed at the behest of Saudi Arabia. This meeting was intended to tackle issues concerning regional security and cooperation. The talks were also set to allow both Iran and Oman to discuss an understanding they had reached regarding maritime routes in the Strait of Hormuz. Although the meeting has been delayed, Baghaei confirmed that the understanding between Iran and Oman is complete, and both nations will determine the next steps forward.
Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr Albusaidi, explained that the regional meeting had been deferred to foster a consensus among the involved parties. He reiterated Oman’s dedication to dialogue and its commitment to ensuring regional stability and fostering long-term cooperation among the nations of the Gulf.
